Event Information

The 2009 event will be held at the Dunc Gray Velodrome at Bankstown, Sydney, Australia from Monday 19th October - Saturday 24th October 2009, over 6 days of competition.

Spectator Entry to the Championships will be FREE for ALL sessions, 19th to 24th October. In addition there will be FREE Parking within the precinct.

There will be a Cycling EXPO during the event, October 22nd until 24th. Entry to the EXPO will also be FREE.

The format will be as per the previous UCI World Masters Track Championships.

Sydney Climate

The Championships are scheduled for October which is Springtime in Australia with mild temperatures in the mid 20 degree celsius range. At this time of year Sydney is typically blue skies and sunshine.  

Competition Management

The event will be run as per UCI guidelines and rules with officials appointed by Cycling Australia and the NSW Cycling Federation.  Regulations for the event will be drawn up in consultation with the UCI based on current rules and regulations.  The Organising Committee has appointed experienced competition and event management personnel with proven experience and success in staging major cycling competition meets including the Sydney 2000 Olympics, World Cup Classics and the last 2 year's successful World Masters events.

Medical and Drug Testing

Qualified medical support staff including sports massage personnel will be on site for all sessions and drug testing will be administered through the Australian Sports Drug Testing Agency in line with UCI guidelines.

Competition Facilities and Support

Competitors will be offerred secure storage for their equipment and training sessions will be available at the venue two days prior to the commencement of the Championships.

Competitors Lounge

A competitors and supporters lounge will be established at the Handle Bar Tavern located within the Dunc Gray Velodrome and is managed as part of the Bankstown Sports Club. This facility is ideal for competitors to relax and enjoy food and beverages, in a family friendly environment.

Gala Dinner and Awards Night

On the last night of the Championships, Saturday 24th October, the Bankstown Sports Club will host a Gala Dinner for all competitors and guests at the Club.  This will be the official presentation night for the event and an opportunity to recognise the Champions of Champions.  The formal presentation will include live entertainment and a chance to relax after the week of competition.

Cycling Expo

The Championships will include the staging of a Cycling Expo in conjunction with the event. The Expo will be open to the Cycling Industry who will be able to showcase their products, services, equipment and assessories during the Championships, from 22nd until 24th of October. The Expo will be presented within the Dunc Gray Velodrome and like the Championships itself will be FREE of charge.
