Insurance

You are advised to arrange your own insurance to cover yourself for the following:

  1. Personal additional medical and accident cover to include competition (Compulsory)
  2. Cycling equipment and personal belongings
  3. Normal travel insurance

Spectator Entry

All spectators will be admitted to the grandstand areas for all sessions of the Championships FREE OF CHARGE.

Age Categories

All Age divisions as per UCI Regulations:

In all cases the age of the competitor shall be determined by the actual age on the 31st December of the current year.

The minimum number of participants for the Time Trial, Sprint, and Individual Pursuit in each event shall be 6 starters.

The minimum number of participants for the Scratch Race and Points Races in each event shall be 12 starters.

Should there be less than the minimum number of starters required the Chief Commissaire will amalgamate divisions to reach the required minimum starters.  Age divisions with insufficient starters will compete with the next younger division, however all divisions will receive medals regardless of the number of starters.

Disciplines and Techinical Regulations

Following UCI instructions the 2009 World Masters Championships will be conducted as per the UCI Rules and Regulations 2009.

There will be only 1 Team Sprint Age category for teams of 3 competitors with a combined age of 135 years and over.

Sprint

All age categories will compete over 3 laps (750mtrs).

The Sprint will take up to and including the fastest 24 flying 200mtr qualifying competitors to Round 1 and the schedule will include best of 3 rounds for the Quarters, Semi`s and Finals.

The Sprint rounds will be drawn up according to the number of starters in each category.

Time Trial

Men will compete over the following distances:

35-39 - 1000mtrs

45-49 - 750mtrs

55-59 - 500mtrs

65-69 - 500mtrs

75+    - 500mtrs

40-44 - 750mtrs

50-54 - 500mtrs

60-64 - 500mtrs

70-74 - 500mtrs

All Women categories will be 500 mtrs.

In all cases Commissaires shall arrange 2 riders to compete at the same time whenever possible.

Individual Pursuit

Men will compete over the following distances:

35-39 - 3000mtrs

45-49 - 3000mtrs

55-59 - 2000mtrs

65-69 - 2000mtrs

75+    - 2000mtrs

40-44 - 3000mtrs

50-54 - 2000mtrs

60-64 - 2000mtrs

70-74 - 2000mtrs

All Women categories will be 2000 mtrs.

Competitors will contest a qualifying round with the fastest and second fastest times riding off for Gold and Silver Medals and 3rd and 4th fastest times riding for the Bronze medal.

Scratch Race

Men will compete over the following distances:

35-39 – 10kms

45-49 – 10kms

55-59 – 7.5kms

65-69 – 5kms

75+    - 5kms

40-44 – 10kms

50-54 – 7.5kms

60-64 – 5kms

70-74  - 5kms

All Women’s categories will be 5kms.

Should there be more than 24 starters for each category the Chief commissaire will arrange for heats to be drawn.

Points Race

Men will compete over the following distances:

35-39 – 30km

45-49 – 20km

55-59 – 15km

65-69 – 10km

75+    - 10km

40-44 – 20km

50-54 – 15km

60-64 – 10km

70-74 - 10km

Women will compete over the following distances:

   35 - 44 - 12.5km

   45 - 59 - 10km

   60+ - 7.5km

Sprints shall take place every 10 laps with points 5,3,2,1 awarded.

If any rider shall gain a lap 20 points will be awarded, subsequently if any rider loses a lap 20 points will be deducted from there tally.

Should there be more than 24 starters for each category the Chief commissaire will arrange for heats to be drawn.

Team Sprint

Distance of 3 laps (750mtrs).

Men's Team Sprint: Each team must consist of 3 competitors with a total combined age of 135 years and over.

Each country may enter 1 or more teams and all 3 competitors must be of the same country.

Teams will contest a qualifying round with the fastest and second fastest times riding off for Gold and Silver Medals and 3rd and 4th fastest times riding for the Bronze medal.

Anti Doping Control

Competitors maybe required to present themselves for anti doping control.

Random anti-doping control will take place.

The UCI anti-doping levy will be included in the initial race entry fee of $100 for all riders.

Victory Ceremony

The first three riders or teams placed in each Championship shall be available at the time required by the organisers for the Victory Ceremony.

The winner(s) of each Championship shall be awarded a World Masters Track Champion’s jersey and a gold medal. In addition the 2nd and 3rd placed riders shall receive a silver and bronze medal respectively.

The National Anthem of the Champions country shall be played during the Victory Ceremony.

Champion of Champions

For each division there will be awarded a Champion of Champions. A competitor from each division will receive a Champion of Champions trophy. Points will be allocated from each Championship final on the basis of 5,3,2,1 points for the first 4 placings. Should one or more competitors finish on equal points, the champion shall be decided on his/her most number of wins. Should it still be equal then the most number of seconds, then if still equal most number of thirds, and if still equal then most number of fourth placings. Should it still be equal, then the result will be declared a dead heat. Note – Champion of Champions will only be awarded for categories that have 3 or more competitors competing in more then one event.

The Champion of Champions trophies will be awarded at the Gala Dinner at the Bankstown Sports Club at the conclusion of the Championships on the evening of Saturday 24th October. Bookings are essential.
